Price under saihan seido.
"saihanbai kakaku iji seido" or shoter "saihan seido" is a name of system for sale six categories of copyrighted material: CDs, records, cassettes, books, magazines, and newspapers.
This system established in 1953, allows owners of copyrighted material to set the minimum retail price of newly released or re-released products, thus eliminating any possiblilty of discounting.
To indicate minimum price used two symbol:
- Ⓧ (letter X in circle, 24cd UNICODE, Ⓧ in HTML) - this mark on a music or print publication is used to indicate the last date at which the item must be sold at a fixed price under saihan seido, Japan's resale price maintenance system.
- Ⓨ (letter X in circle, 24ce UNICODE, Ⓨ in HTML) - this mark on a music or print publication is used to indicate the first date at which the item must be sold at a fixed price under saihan seido, Japan's resale price maintenance system.
